Lee Xue Er
Xue Er holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology from Nanyang Technological University. She is passionate about working with children with special needs and bringing positive outcomes in their lives. She has been fascinated with children with special needs from the first time she interacted with a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In 2017, she was an art assistant, teaching children aged 3-12 art-related techniques and planning lessons on art in accordance with students’ learning objectives. This was her first time having the chance to interact with this population, which strengthens her determination to dedicate her career to children with special needs in the future.
During her course of study, she grabbed every chance to broaden her knowledge related to the development of children by taking modules such as “Child Psychopathology”, “Clinical Psychology “and “Cognitive Development”. She was also a member of NTU Touch Lab and Visual Cognitive Neuroscience Lab. Her main role in the lab included conducting behavioral and biopsychological experiments and assisting in journal publications on the topics of emotions and human behaviors. In 2021, Xue Er got an internship opportunity at the Ministry of Education as a lesson planning assistant. She assisted in developing intervention packages for children with Chinese reading difficulty and conducting dyslexia assessments in Singapore primary schools.
She has been working in Nurture Pods since 2020, providing intervention programs both in group and individual settings. She teaches children with various profiles social skills, emotion regulation, and behavioral management with the use of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) techniques. As a therapist, she strives to provide intervention that suits every child in the best way to enhance socially important behaviors of the child and improve the quality of life for both the child and parents. She strongly believes that every child is unique and deserves the chance to learn in a safe and secure environment to reach their full potential.
